We have just returned from an amazing holiday in Provence! Just a short note to let you know that we had a most enjoyable stay in the Old Stone House and were rather sorry to leave after just one week! The village folk were so friendly and accommodating – our last evening's meal to celebrate a family birthday was one of the best meals we have ever had. The early morning visit to the butchery and the daily croissant orders made the reality of small town living a real prospect to consider. The amount of steps to climb is a winner to staying slim, trim, and young! We watched A Good Year again last evening just to have another look at one amazing part of the world. We took thousands of photographs so will be re-living our holiday for years to come.

The Edouard Jacques Studio met all of our needs perfectly!

We returned last evening after spending a wonderful five weeks in France, four of them in the Edouard Jacques Studio. The studio met all of our needs perfectly. It was quiet, convenient, well kept, and a pleasant place to spend time.

A couple of thoughts for your concierge book:

CDG – 3, rue Edouard Jacques: We can recommend the shuttle from Paris Airport Service (parisairportservice.net) or 01 -55 -98 -10 -80. It was 32 euros for both of us, and is door to door. Because others may be in the six passenger van, it may take a few minutes longer than a taxi, but it is much less expensive. We have used it successfully three times.

We, of course, found our favorite park. It's the small park on rue Loesserand across from the bus #58 bus stop – no more than 100 meters from the studio. It's quiet, close, and private; it seems to get little use. Its name is Le Jardin de Moulin du Trois Comets.

After 92 degree heat in Provence (in May) we were enfolded in the cool, gentle, green arms of spring when we arrived (a day early) at Chateau des Sablons. Our hosts were welcoming, understanding, and invited us to collapse in our apartment a day early. And what a lovely apartment it was! The living area was flooded with light from two tall windows complete withworking shutters. The ceilings were high, and the wood floors were old. But pehaps not as old as the wonderful circular stairs leading up to our door. The staircase center pillar was carved from a large treetrunk after the stairs were installed many years ago. Much more recently the walls of the apartment were skillfully covered with a lovely fabric that softened the sounds and surfaces of the rooms. The kitchen of the apartment was new with all the expected and hoped for appliances – even a small freezer in the refrigerator. A vase of mauve peonies and a bottle of local wine were awaiting us after our first day. The king-sized bed was firm, and the bath had a blissful soaking tub. We would throw the window shutters open in the morning to radiant sunshine and the birdsong of a warbler, and the cooing of doves.

Besides all of this, the garden was postcard perfect with a gleaming swimming pool and clusters of tables and chairs set around the park-like grounds. The chateau itself is a perfect example of the exquisite, small country manors of French history. Not a huge castle, but a real and beautiful home. The local village, a 10 minute walk away, would have taken many weeks to get to know, but we were also in the center of the great chateau-wine-mushroom-troglodyte-Tufa cave-middle age village-Loire River-fabulous restaurants country. We could only scratch the surface and must return to continue our studies.

I would also like to mention how helpful, knowledgeable, and gracious our hosts were!

My wife enjoyed the light every morning when we had our coffee. Being on the third floor, we had a good view of a small part of the Quarter and could see the spire on St. Louis Cathedral. The location was good, and was within walking distance to Bourbon and Royal streets. It was also very convenient having the grocery store across the street. Winston was very helpful and informative. Having lived in New Orleans in the 1970's, it was heartening to see the Quarter in such good shape. We hope to return again soon.

I also went to a lecture on the neighborhood at the vide-grenier. I even walked the back streets on the rue du Moulin Vert to Alésia discovering the Villa Alésia with the artstis' studios, the parks, and the village feel of this quartier populaire.

And yes, I trained myself to take buses and not to reflexively go underground. I look the 58 a lot and others to Montparnasse. The Place de Catalogne behind the gare Montparnasse is interesting too. Very Italian Futurist. I feel like I know Paris so much better now!

We enjoyed the Rosiers suite very much. This suite along with the Cluny and Luxembourg suites located on Rue de l’École Polytechnique are in wonderful locations. I'm not quite sure which one we will choose for our next trip (probably not until 2013). The restaurant L'As du Falafel was as described, and terrific. I particularly enjoyed the man who walked up and down the lines collecting for the meal and, if anyone hesitated more than two seconds in ordering, he told them what they were going to eat. The patisserie/boulangerie at the corner of Rue des Rosiers and Rue des Ecouffes were superb. I got a kick out of the cashier, an older man, who beamed with genuine delight when I was able to pay with the exact amount of cash.

We were indeed able to get tickets to La Bayadère at the Opéra Garnier by going to the box office as you suggested. For 10 € each we were seated in a box with a beautiful view of the stage. Problem was, we were in the third row which we had a perfect view of the backs of the heads of the people in front of us. There was a simple solution - we turned the chairs around and alternately knelt and stood, and thereby saw the entire ballet which was wonderful.

I've been coming to NOLA since 2005, and this is the most enjoyable stay that I have had. The Rooftop Suite is exactly as advertised. It is in an excellent location – only steps from all that the Quarter has to offer. It is in a quiet residential neighborhood, and there is even a small grocery across the street. I just wanted to let you know what a great time we have had in Annecy, and how much we have enjoyed the apartment. It is in the PERFECT location and, as everyone has said, the view is spectacular. We have only had one side trip - to Chambery - because we are enjoying Annecy so much. The air is so clean, and we love to stroll along the lake. The farmers' markets have been a delight, and it was fun buying food there and having an apartment where we could prepare it.

We have had a lot of rain and cool weather but if it not had been for the rain to clear out the volcanic ash from Iceland I think we would still be in the USA with no way to get here.

I am writing this from the apt so you can see we have had no problems connecting to the internet.

We have recently returned from a week at the Annecy apartment apartment. We have been to many apartments in Europe and this has to be rated as the best to date. The location could not be beaten. We choose to self cater all the time, and every shop imaginable was right on the doorstep: patisserie, delicatessen, butchers, fishmonger, bread shops, etc. The fantastic street market is held on Friday, Sunday, and Tuesday morning, and is just two minutes around the corner. For other groceries there are two Monoprix close by.

The apartment was so homely and had everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. The view of the little river, chateau, roofs of the old town, and mountains was simply wonderful. The apartment is very light and so quiet. We didn't hear a thing from anybody else all week.

We hired bikes and cycled round the lake which was glorious. Of course, we went on the lake and also had a couple of days out to Geneva and Aix les Bains, but were pleased to get back to Annecy on both occasions. Annecy is a very special place and this apartment is also very special.

Delightful neighborhood, comfortable apartment

When we couldn't find anything we could afford in the 4th adn 5th arrondissements, we checked out the 14th and discovered the relatively peaceful neighborhood by the Pernety Metro stop.

Even though you sense a calm atmosphere when you emerge from the Metro, the neighborhood has dozens of cafes, inexpensive restaurants, take-out traitteurs, fromageries, boulangeries, boucheries, etc. The charm of old Paris in this neighborhood outweighs the occasional modern building mixed in. The apartment is small, but its high ceilings and tall windows give it a light and airy feeling. The photos on the website do not do justice to the apartment's overall attractiveness. Someone has carefully thought about what a temporary resident might need and provided amenities like flashlights, sewing kit, extra towels, electric adapters, and shopping bags for the nearby supermarket. A laundromat is next door. The owner provides detailed written instructions and suggestions which are very helpful. The apartment looks over a courtyard with beautiful trees and is absolutely quiet. Unfortunately, you can hear the neighbors next door through the walls, but we mitigated this by closing the bathroom door, and since these elderly neighbors keep very reasonable hours they never bothered our sleep. Historic Rentals, which manages the apartment, did everything right and in an organized fashion. Madame Gelacio, the English-speaking housekeeper, came right over when we had to call her about a (self-inflicted) problem. All in all, we highly recommend this apartment and its neighborhood.

We stayed in the converted Slave Quarter Suite February 4 - 7, 2010 and enjoyed it very much. It is very cozy and convenient. Winston was incredibly patient with our arrival issues. He even checked in on us the next day to see if he could help with getting our lost baggage. We would recommend staying here to our friends, as well as look into it again for our next visit.

The Annecy apartment was stunning!

The Annecy apartment was stunning, set as it is above the river with views over the old gaol and up towards the lake. We could not have asked for a more relaxing week, blessed as we were with beautiful weather. The twice weekly markets, with beautiful fresh food to choose from, became three when we were lucky enough to be there on the day that the alpine community celebrated Le Retour des Alpages, which I believe marks the return of the animals from the high summer pastures to their winter quarters. What an experience that was; music, dance, markets, crafts, animals, costumes, parades, it was just so special. Some of the highlights for us were the cruise on the lake, the drive around the lake, Chamonix Mont Blanc (stunning), the Col de la Forclaz (beautiful), the autumn colours in the mountains, walking the streets of the old city, the beautiful tastes from the Traiteur next door.



The apartment itself is so well set out. The washing machine and dryer so handy, the kitchen well appointed, bed very comfortable. We had a ball, and would love to return!

For someone looking to immerse themselves as a Parisian – stay in the wonderfully-quiet Luxembourg Left Bank Suite! You feel like you have just moved to Paris and are experiencing day to day living. The location couldn't have been better. The information from the owners was such a great help in navigating the area. Great restaurants, cafes, pastry/bread stores, cheese shops, outdoor markets, and wine stores are within a short walk of the apartment. The Metro is also just down the hill and so easy to use. The apartment is well stocked with whatever you need. Having a kitchen to use made life so enjoyable, and was just the best for breakfast or dinner at home – especially after having picked up all kinds of fresh goodies down the street. We will be back as soon as we can!

We really enjoyed the Slave Quarter Suite

We stayed in the Slave Quarter Suite for a week, and we really enjoyed it. Everything in the French Quarter felt close and easy to find. The suite was much larger than anticipated, with plenty of room, especially compared to most hotel rooms. The nights were very quiet. With no one above or below and no street noise, even folks from rural settings (like we are) should sleep well. Winston was helpful, although we really had everything we needed available in the Slave Quarter Suite. He directed us to an excellent laundry a block away, which returned our clothes folded and on hangers, just as we would have done it at home. We hope to return.

All the information made the trip much less stressful, and we could enjoy being in Paris and seeing everything that we wished to see. The Cluny apartment is lovely, and in a great location! It's comfortable and tastefully decorated. The only thing we had any problem with was the WiFi. It had a great signal, but we couldn't actually get connected.... We did find an internet café so it all worked out.

If we return to Paris we would choose to stay in the Cluny apartment again. We will also recommend the Cluny apartment to friends without hesitation as it is an ideal place to stay.

We had a perfectly marvelous time in the Luberon biking and hiking around the valley towns. It was so special – as was our little love nest from which we'd wander forth from every day.

We found that there is an ATM in Bonnieux at the Post Office. That location is much better than going to Coustellet, so you might want to update you guide books.

Le Golubet restaurant in Menerbes had really nice folks, reasonable prices, and good food. The restaurant next door is way over-priced. The chef is a snob, but he's good. In Bonnieux, the view from Les Terraces restaurant is superb and the food is good, but the waiters are Parisian – cold and aloof. Le Terrail was our favorite. It has excellent food, wonderful energy, and the treatment by the staff was great. It also had a nice view, and was a good value.

The Montparnasse area is wonderful!

We've had a lovely time in Paris. The Montparnasse area is wonderful. The Rue Du Chateau apartment is comfortable, and very well equipped. There are lovely shops nearby, as well as a metro station. The metro is extremely easy to use, but we suggest buying a book of ten tickets if you will use it often - it's cheaper. We have enjoyed everywhere that we've visited and couldn't possibly recommend only one attraction! We have also eaten at many different restaurants, and found them all to be good with friendly staff and reasonable prices.

The Edouard Jacques Studio apartment was very pleasant!

The rather run-down entrance belied a very pleasant apartment. The stairs were typically Parisian, and no worse than many of the other apartments where we have stayed in the past. The Edouard Jacques Studio was ideal for a one week stay. The flowers in the vase were a very nice welcome. Both of us agreed that the bed was the best we had ever slept in while in a Paris apartment. Even the one-armed chair at the table had its convenience for turning to watch television while eating, or getting up without obstruction. Overall your instructions were well researched, and covered most everything.

Paris in the winter was wonderful for me....

Everything went well, and the Marais apartment was as advertised - all the pics and directions made sense. Your advice was very well taken too (e.g. put the suitcase in the closet). The flowers, leaving a light on, and the heater on very low made the arrival very easy and comfortable especially after a long flight. The cable tv was a god send as I made sure I was home in time to watch the inauguration!

Paris in the winter was wonderful for me as I don't like the crowds (there are still plenty of tourists and people though, but much easier to get around to see what you want to see). The Rosiers apartment was ideally situated too, again as you said.

I'll definitely recommend it to friends, and may even be back some day.

We have just returned from a most enjoyable stay in the Luxembourg Apartment!

We have just returned from a most enjoyable stay in the Luxembourg Apartment. Your instructions were easy to follow. We found the place and gained access with no problems. The apartment was clean, well-furnished, and equipped with everything we could possibley need. It was great to be so near the center of Paris with easy access to all the sights - and even a good restaurant next door!

It was not our first visit to Paris, but the first time we had stayed in an apartment rather than a hotel, and it's an experience we would certainly be happy to repeat and recommend to family and friends. We were even blessed with glorious weather!

We stayed in the Coach House Suite and had a wonderful time!

My family and I stayed at the Chateau des Sablons for a week in July 2008. We stayed in the three-bedroom apartment, the Coach House Suite, and had a wonderful time. The rooms were comfortable, clean, and the beds firm. The kitchen was also well equipped. The Chateau is on a gated private land with mature trees, and the owners have made every effort to create a relaxing environment. The Chateau des Sablons is very close to the highway which made it easy to travel to castles in the Loire that we wanted to see. There are many superb restaurants in the area with various price ranges. I sincerely hope we will back there soon and would strongly recommend this address.

We had a wonderful time staying in the Cluny Suite!

We had a wonderful time at the Cluny Suite! It is ideally located in the 5th arrondissement, within easy walking distance to both the Mouffetard student quarter and St. Germain/St. Michel/Odeon. Historic Rentals sends a Concierge Book before you travel with all sorts of useful information about the area. The apartment is quiet, spacious, and the bathroom and kitchen are totally equipped (microwave, and even a hair dryer). The firm king bed is also an unusual find for Europe. In the living room, there is cable TV, phone, internet access, and a well-stocked library of maps and guide books. We didn't realize this, and brought our own, copies of which already there for our use, including the indispensable "Red Book," the Plan de Paris par Arrondissement. We felt like we were at home at in the Cluny Suite, and will certainly stay there again on our next trip!

Our experience we had at the Cluny Suite was so positive in every way that I think the best way to recount it is to start at the beginning. First of all, the whole process of reserving the suite and working with you on it was pleasant. Your informational email was extremely useful, and receiving the key before we even left for Paris made our access to the apartment smooth, easy, and welcoming. When we arrived, we were greeted by a flowering orchid plant in the vestibule, and all essential supplies in the kitchen. Everything was clean and in order, and we we reamazed at how comfortable the quarters were. The apartment is very well-appointed and the kitchen is well-equipped. It became our home for a week, and I was surprised at how "at home" I really felt.

The location cannot be beat with the Pantheon, the Medieval Museum, Notre Dame, and the Luxembourg Gardens all within easy walking distance as also the metro and RER stations. We lived and breathed Paris as much like the natives as it is possible to do as visitors. We went to the Farmer's Market that meets on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays and is within a few blocks of the apartment. Another find was a frozen foods store (Picard) right around the corner from Rue D'Ecole Polytechnique where we got excellent meals to go with our breads, cheeses, fruits, and olives that we had picked up at the Farmer's Market.

The apartment's prime location made visits to all the obligatory tourist sites very handy. It also allowed us to take many walks along the Seine late in the evening after a busy day of taking in the sights. The whole experience now seems like a dream, and much of our pleasure had to do with our comfortable and unique "home" in Paris. I was so happy with our experience that I have been mentioning it to all my colleagues and friends to whom I have highly recommended your place. I know that if and when I ever go to Paris again, you will hear from me.

Our suite was like a show house!

We would like to thank you both for making a good holiday great. Our suite was like a show house. Everything was immaculate, including the vase of fresh flowers (nice touch) on the kitchen table. As for the bed, it was huge, and ultra comfortable. We enjoyed being able to sit by the pool, or in the garden which was very relaxing, peaceful, and quiet. We found you both to be helpful, thoughtful, and wonderful hosts. Again, thank you for creating a magnificent holiday experience.

We have returned from a truly magical trip in Provence! We have subsequently told everyone what a fabulous place you have in Menerbes. The Fountain View House was our home base as we traveled about. I often would just sit in front of the house facing the church and watch the lovely flow of traffic on the street.
